Jadon Sancho situation at Manchester United has become more complicated following Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to the club. Despite being with the team for over two years, the English winger’s future at Old Trafford is now uncertain.
There were rumors that Jadon Sancho could move to Saudi Arabia before the transfer window closed, and he was left out of Manchester United’s recent game. Erik ten Hag, the manager, explained that Sancho’s absence was due to his training efforts.

Sancho responded on social media, suggesting that he was being used as a “scapegoat.” However, The Athletic has reported that Sancho’s time at United might be over now that Ronaldo has rejoined the club.
Reports indicate that when United initially tried to sign Sancho in 2020, he was promised the number seven jersey. However, when he eventually signed a year later, Edinson Cavani wore the shirt. Cavani later gave it to Ronaldo when he returned to the club that summer. Sancho was then assigned the number 25 instead.
Ronaldo’s return has once again disrupted Sancho’s efforts to establish himself in the team. According to reports, Ralf Rangnick, the temporary manager, and Ronaldo discussed a change in tactics in private. Rangnick’s proposal to switch from a 4-3-3 system to playing with two up top would negatively affect Sancho’s chances since he operates on both wings of the attacking trio.

Sancho was fortunate that Rangnick opposed the change, as it could have impacted his form. Despite scoring twice in three games from the right wing, the 23-year-old has struggled and lost favor with Gareth Southgate, England’s national team manager. He hasn’t been called up for England since October 2021.
While Sancho scored six goals and provided three assists in the league last season, he has yet to start a game this year. Instead, he has made three substitute appearances, the longest of which was a 30-minute cameo against Nottingham Forest.

Sancho’s Twitter response to Ten Hag’s comments has since been deleted. On Monday, the two parties were expected to hold talks to determine Sancho’s future. He still has just under three years remaining on his contract with Manchester United, with an additional year’s option. Whether Sancho will participate in United’s upcoming game against Brighton at home remains uncertain.
