Mohamed Salah and Dejan Lovren, former teammates at Liverpool from 2017 to 2020, recently appeared together in a Pepsi commercial.
Although their friendship had to adapt to long-distance after Lovren’s move to Zenit St. Petersburg, this commercial allowed them to reconnect in a heartwarming way.
In the Pepsi ad, Salah and Lovren embark on a food-tasting adventure through the streets of Egypt, where they explore local cuisine and enjoy each other’s company. Salah has been featured in several Pepsi commercials as part of his endorsement deal with the company, including one shot in Liverpool in October 2021.
When Lovren’s departure from Liverpool was announced three years ago, Salah shared a heartfelt message for his friend and former teammate:
“I don’t know what to say, my friend. I’m not sure what it is, but I know we’ll miss you. Specifically, myself. You’ve been a fantastic friend and teammate. We will miss you terribly. I think about you frequently and miss you terribly. You’ve done an outstanding job both on and off the field, and I admire you for it.
Please accept my heartfelt thanks for everything you’ve done for the club and for me. Have a good career and have pleasure with your loved ones at the new club; you have my best wishes for the future. Please accept my heartfelt thanks, and I hope to see you again soon.”
Lovren made a return to his former club this year, joining Lyon in Ligue 1 after departing Zenit St. Petersburg. Prior to his time in France, the central defender was part of the Croatian national team from 2010 to 2013.
