Jota’s Sending Off Deemed ‘Incorrect’

The Premier League’s Independent Key Match Incidents Panel has concluded that Diogo Jota should not have been sent off during Liverpool’s controversial defeat to Tottenham. Jota was shown a red card after receiving two yellow cards during the match.

Reports indicate that Jota’s tackle on Destiny Udogie, which resulted in his second yellow card and subsequent sending off, was not deemed deserving of a yellow card by referee Simon Hooper. The panel’s report stated that “the majority deemed the decision as incorrect as they felt it did not meet the threshold for a yellow card,” with three out of five panel members voting against a booking.

The panel includes three former players and/or coaches, along with one representative from the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) and the Premier League.

Liverpool’s failed pursuit of Moises Caicedo has been explained by the midfielder’s agent. Instead of joining Liverpool, Caicedo moved to Chelsea, and his agent shed light on the decision-making process.

“When Liverpool came and approached in that way, obviously Moises gets dizzy, I get dizzy myself,” the agent stated to Futbol sin Cassette. “But Chelsea were by our side at all times, asking us to go. They wanted an hour to tell Brighton so that they could match the offer, and they gave them an hour, which ended in two days of negotiation.”
