Klopp’s side are back in action on Thursday when they host Toulouse in the Europa League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are bidding to make it nine points from nine in the competition after victories over LASK and Union Saint-Gilloise in their opening two matches. This comes after the Reds returned to winning ways in the Premier League over the weekend, as they edged past Everton at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah scored twice for Liverpool in a controversy-filled affair which saw Ashley Young sent off, while Ibrahima Konate avoided a second yellow card for a challenge on Beto. The Toffees were unhappy with the decision not to send the Frenchman off as Liverpool secured another vital three points.

Here is the latest news from Anfield.

Osimhen’s Liverpool move not close

Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, but the forward has not agreed a transfer to Anfield and is ‘taking his time’ over his future.

The 24-year-old has scored six goals in 10 appearances for Napoli so far this season but was angered after Napoli posted a TikTok which appeared to mock the Nigerian. It came after Osimhen appealed for a penalty during the club’s 0-0 draw against Bologna last month.

After being linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea in the summer, Liverpool are now the next club to be touted with a switch for the talented forward. However, Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking on his YouTube channel, admitted that he has not agreed anything with any club.

There is no agreement on a contract extension for Osimhen after they offered him the biggest wage in the club’s history, while Liverpool are ‘keeping an eye’ on the situation. Osimhen’s full attention has turned to a massive Champions League match against Union Berlin on Tuesday.

Hyypia on Van Dijk

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has been backed to improve as the season goes on

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has been backed to improve as the season goes on

Former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia doesn’t think Virgil van Dijk has reached his top level so far this season and does expect the Dutchman to get better and better.

“He is one of the best in the business in the world,” Hyypia was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. “I think he has raised the standard with everyone expecting him to play at that level every time and that is very difficult.

“But he is doing well, he is a big part of our team and a big leader of the team so I think we all need to be patient and his best is coming.

“I think this season he has shown in some games he is still at the level and I have no doubts he will be the best centre-back in the league this season.”

Zenden praises Gravenberch

Former Liverpool midfielder Bolo Zenden believes Ryan Gravenberch can be an important asset for Jurgen Klopp’s side if he is given time to adapt to the Premier League.

“All players new to the Premier League need time to get used to the amount of games and the intensity with which they play,” Zenden told Soccernews.nl.

“Gravenberch will gradually improve. He is definitely going to be important, but the question is in what role. More conservative? Or with freedom to go forward? At the moment, Alexis Mac Allister has the conservative role.

“Gravenberch is a player who, from his Ajax DNA, wants to push the game forward and pop up in spaces. For the coach it is a puzzle to fit him in, but I am sure Gravenberch can be important for Liverpool with his quality.”
