Despite arriving back in Liverpool just a short while before the match, Diaz was a second-half substitute who injected life into Liverpool’s performance. His pace and skill immediately provided a boost to a team that had struggled in the first half.

Diaz almost scored within 90 seconds of coming on, narrowly missing a headed effort. He also played a key role in creating space that led to Liverpool’s equalizing goal, as his ball found its way to Diogo Jota, who then set up Mohamed Salah for an assist.

Diaz himself acknowledged the positive impact of working with Jurgen Klopp, stating that Klopp and his coaching staff have improved him both tactically and physically. He also highlighted his desire to continue improving his decision-making and tactical knowledge.
“Working with Jurgen [Klopp] has improved me hugely,” said Diaz. “He has made me a better player. The work he and the coaching staff have done has been absolutely fantastic. They’ve improved me tactically and physically, and it’s all about giving 100% in every single game.
“It’s all about improving day by day. But if I were to pick a specific area to improve, it would probably be my decision-making. I think it’s an area I’ve gotten much better in, but there is always room for improvement. Also, my tactical knowledge is something I’d like to grow.”
