During the first international break of the season, an astonishing exchange unfolded between Sancho and Manchester United manager Ten Hag after the forward was omitted from the matchday squad against Arsenal. Ten Hag attributed this decision to Sancho’s lackluster performances in training.

In response, the 23-year-old forward posted a now-deleted message on X (formerly Twitter), contesting Ten Hag’s explanation. Subsequently, Sancho was scheduled to return to Carrington for discussions with the manager about his future.

Ten Hag is expected to address this saga in his upcoming pre-match press conference as United prepares to face Brighton on Saturday afternoon (3pm). The Dutchman is slated to speak 24 hours before the match.

Explaining Sancho’s absence against Arsenal, Ten Hag stated: “Jadon was [not selected] based on his performance levels in training. We didn’t select him. You have to reach a certain level every day at Manchester United, and we can make choices on the frontline, so for this game, he wasn’t selected.”

However, Sancho disagreed with Ten Hag’s assessment. In a brief response on X, he stated: “Please don’t believe everything you read. I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue…

I have conducted myself well in training this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter which I won’t go into. I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn’t fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to the team.

I respect all decisions made by the coaching staff. I play with fantastic players and am grateful to do so, which I know is a challenge every week. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”

Before the Arsenal match, Sancho had appeared in games against Wolves, Tottenham, and Nottingham Forest. In three cameo appearances off the bench, he accumulated a total of 76 minutes without registering any goals or assists.
