Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is facing a headache as an injury storm wreaks havoc at Anfield.
This weekend, Liverpool is set to return to the Premier League with an away match against Wolverhampton. The Kop is regrouping for training after a period where many players were away on international duty.
According to Metro’s reports, in their most recent training session, Liverpool was missing four players due to injuries. In the defensive line, Trent Alexander-Arnold has yet to make a comeback after suffering a wrist injury and being substituted during the match against Aston Villa on September 3.
The 24-year-old defender was subsequently called up to the England national team but had to withdraw due to health reasons. It’s highly likely that he will miss the upcoming match for The Kop.
Another defensive concern comes from center-back Ibrahima Konate. Konate has been dealing with a thigh injury and was absent from Liverpool’s last two matches. He also did not join the French national team. With Konate, Alexander-Arnold, and Van Dijk (suspended) all unavailable, Jurgen Klopp will have to rely on backup options like Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, and young defender Jarell Quansah.
In the midfield, Thiago is still in the recovery process following hip surgery in the summer. Last month, Klopp had mentioned that the Spanish midfielder could return to training, but his absence at this point might indicate a recurrence of the injury.
On the attacking front, the absence of Darwin Nunez is a cause for concern for many Liverpool fans. The 24-year-old star faced issues with his thigh and was substituted during the Uruguay vs. Ecuador World Cup 2026 qualifying match in South America.
It’s currently unclear when the former Benfica player can make a comeback. This season, Nunez has been performing well at Liverpool, scoring 2 goals in the first 4 matches.
