Gabriela Cavallin, the former girlfriend of Manchester United player Antony, is set to travel to the UK for police interviews next week.
Cavallin has accused the Brazilian international of domestic violence, alleging that she was a victim of a series of attacks between June 2022 and May 2023. Brazilian international has strongly denied these allegations.
Antony returned to first-team action for Man Utd this week following his leave of absence
According to the Telegraph, Cavallin, 23, is scheduled to meet with Greater Manchester Police on the following Wednesday. She has claimed that Antony assaulted her in a Manchester hotel room the day after Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City on January 14.
In addition to the recent allegations, Sao Paulo Civil Police are investigating Cavallin’s claims that Antony attacked her on June 1 of the previous year. She has alleged that Brazilian international attempted to eject her from a moving car while she was pregnant during a holiday.
Coach Ten Hag still cannot get Antony’s service
Antony has been cooperating with authorities both in the UK and Brazil and has not been arrested or detained. He has expressed his determination to clear his name and claims to possess evidence supporting his innocence.
Last month, Manchester United temporarily suspended Antony from first-team duties as he dealt with these allegations and released him from the Brazilian national squad. However, the club has now allowed him to return to training, and he made a late appearance as a substitute in the Champions League match against Galatasaray on Tuesday.
Erik ten Hag, the club’s manager, defended the decision to recall Antony despite the ongoing investigation, stating, “So, he cooperated fully… It came out he’s not charged.”
Brazilian international arrived at Old Trafford in August last year in a deal worth £82 million, making it the third-highest transfer fee ever paid by the club, following Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku. It was also the Eredivisie’s biggest-ever transfer.
