Manchester United winger Antony has resumed training with the club after taking a period of absence due to allegations of abuse against women.
The 23-year-old Brazilian, who denies the claims, voluntarily met with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) for questioning regarding the allegations made by his former partner, Gabriela Cavallin. Antony’s return to training makes him available for selection in Manchester United upcoming Champions League tie.

Antony has vehemently denied the allegations of abuse and has cooperated with police inquiries both in Brazil and the UK since the allegations surfaced in June. The winger has consistently maintained his innocence and expressed his willingness to clarify the situation with the Brazilian authorities. As of now, Antony has not been arrested, detained, or charged in connection with the allegations.
Manchester United issued a statement confirming Antony’s return to training at Carrington. The club emphasized its condemnation of acts of violence and abuse and acknowledged the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse. United stated that Antony’s availability for selection would be kept under review as police inquiries proceed.
Gabriela Cavallin made allegations of “physical and psychological violence” against Antony, reporting them to both GMP and Sao Paulo police earlier this month. She claimed that two alleged incidents occurred in Manchester on January 15 and May 8. Antony’s former partner has presented varying versions of the accusations in different statements.

Two other women have come forward to allege that Antony had abused them since the initial accusations by Ms. Cavallin. Antony has fully cooperated with inquiries conducted by authorities in both Manchester and Brazil.
As a consequence of the allegations, Antony has been omitted from the latest Brazil squad for upcoming internationals. He had also been dropped from the previous squad earlier this month amid the ongoing investigations.
In a separate development, Phil Jones has been pictured arriving at Carrington. Jones, who is currently not part of the first-team squad, is pursuing a new career path. He is undertaking a football directorship course at the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Business School and working towards completing his UEFA coaching A Licence while also contributing to Manchester United’s academy.
