Manchester United winger Antony is returning to the UK to cooperate with police investigations regarding allegations of assault made against him by former girlfriend Gabriella Cavallin.
Antony, who denies the allegations, had taken a leave of absence from Manchester United while the investigations were ongoing.

Antony, a Brazilian winger, had been in his homeland but decided to return to the UK to meet with police officials in person. He stated,
“I have agreed with Manchester United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me. This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction to my teammates and unnecessary controversy for the club.
I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, and I will fully cooperate with the police to help them reach the truth. I look forward to returning to play as soon as possible.”
Antony scored on his debut for Manchester United
Manchester United confirmed Antony’s absence earlier, stating,
“Players who have not participated in international matches are due back in training on Monday. However, it has been agreed with Antony that he will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.
As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognize the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and a`cknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
Gabriella Cavallin alleges that Antony assaulted her in a hotel room on January 14, the day after a Premier League game against Manchester City. She claims to have suffered injuries, including a cut to her head and damage to a breast implant.
Antony joined Manchester United from Dutch club Ajax for £88 million last summer and has made 48 appearances for the team, scoring eight goals and providing three assists. He has been absent from the last four of the club’s games.
While Antony is dealing with these legal matters, Manchester United continues to focus on its matches, with upcoming league action against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. The club recently secured a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace to advance to the fourth round of the League Cup.
