Former striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has called for Lisandro Martinez to step up his performance in upcoming matches with Manchester United.

This performance followed a disappointing match against Brighton in the Premier League, where Martinez was at fault for Brighton’s second goal. His mistake allowed Pascal Gross to pass easily, leading to Andre Onana’s goal.
Gabriel Agbonlahor expressed his disappointment with Martinez’s recent form, stating that opponents have figured out his playing style, which had previously made him successful. He noted that Martinez’s height (1.75 meters) doesn’t make it challenging for opponents to defeat him.
Agbonlahor said, “What really disappointed me was Lisandro Martinez. In the story of Pascal Gross scoring a goal (against Brighton), if Harry Maguire did what Martinez did—trying to rush in but turning his back to let the opponent easily pass—Maguire would definitely be criticized.
Martinez played very well last season, but he has now been exposed. He is no longer the excellent defender he was last season. He has been figured out, gets blocked often, and his decision-making hasn’t been good either.”
The former England international emphasized the need for improvement from Martinez, suggesting that his previous performances may have masked some of his weaknesses.
